Hamsters are popular pets; in commerce, there are at least four of them easy to find: despite this, their role is usually marginal in the domestic environment. Here you can get a collection of hamster coloring pages with no charge. Let’s have fun.

On the contrary, unlike the common belief, all hamsters can be fantastic pets. Interacting with them can be very satisfying; the more time we spend with them, the more familiar we are with them, and the tamer they are.

I’m still amazed at how these little animals can convey their affection and how communicative they can be: it would be a shame to limit our relationship to a simple observation from the outside and lose the emotions they can give.

Each hamster must be housed in a structure that respects its ethological needs, is safe, provides protection from external agents (such as other animals in the house), and prevents them from escaping.

If they do escape, hamsters are difficult to find, rarely return to their cage, and may be exposed to many dangers in the outside environment. For example, they can gnaw on furniture, electrical wires, plumbing pipes, causing damage to themselves and the house.

The accommodation should be adapted to the type of hamster and its characteristics. The cage must provide adequate living conditions, so the bigger, the better.

Russian hamster and a Siberian hamster can be housed in the bar cages commonly found in pet shops. The bottom must be full; the presence of a grid could accidentally cause trauma to the legs.

Russian and Siberian hamsters can be housed in groups consisting of a male and two females or small groups of the same sex. The important thing is that they are put together from an early age: the introduction of an adult outside the group can cause bloody fights that go as far as death.

Roborovsky’s hamster cannot be housed in the conventional cages used for Russians and Siberians, as due to its size, it could escape from the bars. It is better to prefer the fauna boxes with a very high litter bottom (up to 10-15 cm) to facilitate and allow the excavation of tunnels; Roborovskys can be kept in pairs.

For the golden hamster, on the other hand, only one individual must be housed in each cage. Otherwise, the rodents would fight each other even to the death: luckily, they do not suffer from loneliness.

The structure must be organized in such a way as to allow, as far as possible, to recreate an environment in which the pet can have the possibility to perform all the activities it would perform in nature (mainly digging and searching for food).
