Creative Pinellas presents conversations in Art+Innovations -- An opportunity to explore the ideas of the most forward thinking and creative people working today. Sponsored by the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, Clearwater Arts Alliance, Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture and the Arts and the Morean Arts Center. This event will create a dialogue on the newest ideas and most compelling expressions between art + place + people. The Thursday night event is a formal presentation and talk. The Saturday early evening event is a more informal meet and greet. Based in New York City since 2001, Nobuho Nagasawa was born in Tokyo, and raised in Europe and Japan, and received her MFA at Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. She came to the United States as a visiting scholar through the invitation of California Institute of the Arts in 1986, where she studied visual art, critical theory and music. She is an interdisciplinary artist whose site-specific work explores the places, politics, ecology and psychological dimensions of space and people. Her work involves in-depth research into the cultural history and memory, and extensive community participation.

This year, AARP Tampa Bay is making its Day of Service an event to honor veterans and first responders. By working with the Veteran’s Art Center of Tampa Bay (VACTB) and other community partners, AARP hopes to bring awareness to the effectiveness of art therapy. Saturday’s events will focus on music therapy and fine arts therapy and a very special Trolley Art Unveiling! At 4 pm, AARP will unveil the award-winning work of Kenny Maguire, a new artist to the growing St. Pete arts scene and a Marine Corps veteran. His artwork was selected from a countywide competition, and it will now be seen by thousands as it is transferred to the side of a Trolley!

Join Keep St. Pete Lit at The Florida Holocaust Museum where nine writers will perform their short stories, poems, and imaginings inspired by the new exhibition The Holocaust and the Book of Fire by Murray Zimiles. The paintings, drawings, prints, and artist’s books by Murray Zimiles are graphic statements meant to engage and propel the viewer into a whirlwind of fire and devastation. Zimiles deals with the perceived absence of God and the absence of civilization during the Holocaust. Presented in conjunction with Keep St. Pete Lit and the Second Saturday ArtWalk. The hit musical written and directed by Bill Leavengood with music, lyrics and musical direction by Lee Ahlin about St. Pete’s famous drug store returns to the Palladium in a concert format. St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman will make a cameo appearance (as "Mayor of St. Pete, circa 1930's) on opening night of Webb's City: The Musical, A Concert Version, Sept. 14th, 8:00 at The Palladium. We are honored to welcome Rick to the cast! Webb's City is a partnership with Bill Leavengood, American Stage Theatre Company & The Palladium Theatre of SP College.

Billed as the #1 Jazz Festival in Tampa Bay, this event provides a platform for our city's aspiring musicians who may not have the means or opportunity to showcase their talent to larger audiences. It is their sincere hope that by creating such an avenue for our youth, they can open pathways for greater opportunities locally, nationally and internationally. The international aspect allows them to showcase talents from various countries, working along with tourism departments from various countries, highlighting the cultural impact on or community. This project provides scholarship funding to our youth art programs for equipment, books, upgrades on facilities and travel when necessary.

The Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association presents: Hot Club of SRQ - Plays Gypsy Jazz that is deeply rooted in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. This music simply swings and is full of beauty and romance! We emulate the style of what the French call "Jazz Manouche" and "Le Jazz Hot" in the style of Sinti virtuosos and the "Quintette du Hot Club de France" circa 1934-1948.
